About Les Sapeur
Les Sapeur was formed in 2023 as our response to what we perceived as a need to include more diverse perspectives on local gallery walls and in design spaces in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). Founded by Symbol Design leaders, Mark Small and Alma Emadi, Les Sapeur (LS) is our contribution to the PNW and beyond with art that tells more diverse stories across the diaspora.
Alma Emadi
Alma, our Principal, brings a distinct cultural perspective to LS. Born in Iran to an anthropologist mother studying Middle Eastern folklore and a father immersed in Dramatic Arts, her design approach draws from both post-revolution resistance Persian art and music, as well as Western indie rock culture. This unique intersection of rebellion and creativity drives our collections with powerful storytelling and cultural depth.
Diana Hilson
Diana shapes Les Sapeur's voice through strategic insight gained from decades of marketing expertise. Diana's approach to connecting art with diverse audiences is informed by her career spanning multiple verticals, her life lived across multiple regions in the U.S., and her global travels. As our marketing strategist, she brings Midwest sensibility and international perspective to our mission of making fine art accessible to everyone. Her experience helps bridge the gap between artists and art lovers, creating meaningful connections through authentic storytelling.
Mark Wayne
Mark, our Chief Creative Officer, carries the rhythm of Brooklyn in his DNA. Growing up in the golden age of hip-hop and the explosive creativity of NYC's graffiti scene, his artistic vision blends street culture with classical design. His work pulls inspiration from a myriad of styles across the artistic spectrum, from the Renaissance period to the bold spirit of 50s–70s graphic design and album art and beyond. Mark creates pieces that pulse with both historical reverence and contemporary edge.
